Eating 10 Videos
Filmmaker Mike Anderson was a witness as members of his immediate family and close friends were dying from complications of diseases that could have been avoided. His father died of cancer. His stepfather succumbed to heart disease. His mother broke her hip and was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis. His sister-in-law has diabetes. A close friend was diagnosed with cancer and then had a heart attack. The question he kept asking himself was: "How can I avoid going down the same road myself?"
After spending two years poring through thousands of articles in newspapers, magazines, and journals to find an answer to his question, Anderson concluded that all of these degenerative diseases could be prevented if people would embark on diet and lifestyle changes.
The information had such a profound effect on him that he adopted a low-fat vegan diet and in six months shed 35 pounds. Seeing the benefits in improving his own health, he decided he wanted to share his information in a film simply called Eating that first appeared in 2003.
"The project was born out of anger," says Anderson. " I was already in my 50's when I came across the full range of arguments for a plant-based diet. Quite frankly, I was stunned and angry because the arguments were so powerful, yet virtually unknown in the mainstream. I was also angry because of what I had been doing to my body, the environment, and the animals I was eating. Like most Americans, I never made the connection."

THE MARINES WANT THIS TO ROLL ALL OVER THE U.S.
This is a poem being sent from a Marine
to his Dad. For those who take the time
to read it, you'll see a letter from him to
his dad at the bottom. It makes you truly
thankful for not only the Marines, but
ALL of our troops.
THE MARINE
We all came together,
Both young and old
To fight for our freedom,
To stand and be bold.
In the midst of all evil,
We stand our ground,
And we protect our country
From all terror around.
Peace and not war,
Is what some people say.
But I'll give my life,
So you can live the American way.
I give you the right
To talk of your peace.
To stand in your groups,
and protest in our streets.
But still I fight on,
I don't fuss, I don't whine.
I'm just one of the people
Who is doing your time.
I'm harder than nails,
Stronger than any machine.
I'm the immortal soldier,
I'm a U.S. MARINE!
So stand in my shoes,
And leave from your home.
Fight for the people who hate you,
With the protests they've shown.
Fight for the stranger,
Fight for the young.
So they all may have,
The greatest freedom you've won
Fight for the sick,
Fight for the poor
Fight for the cripple,
Who lives next door.
But when your time comes,
Do what I've done.
For if you stand up for freedom,
You'll stand when the fight's done

Hey Dad,
Do me a favor and label this 'The Marine' and send it to everybody on your email list. Even leave this letter in it. I want this rolling all over the US ; I want every home reading it. Every eye seeing it. And every heart to feel it. So can you please send this for me? I would but my email time isn't that long and I don't have much time anyway.
You know what Dad? I wondered what it would be like to truly understand what JFK said in His inaugural speech. 'When the time comes to lay down my life for my country, I do not cower from this responsibility. I welcome it.' Well, now I know. And I do. Dad, I welcome the opportunity to do what I do. Even though I have left behind a beautiful wife, and I will miss the birth of our first born child, I would do it 70 times over to fight for the place that God has made for my home. I love you all and I miss you very much. I wish I could be there when Sandi has our baby, but tell her that I love her, and Lord willing, I will be coming home soon. Give Mom a great big hug from me and give one to yourself too.
Aaron
Please let this marine (and all our military) know we care by passing his poem onto your friends even if you don't usually take time to forward mail...do it this time! Thanks
Let's help Aaron's dad spread the word .... FREEDOM isn't FREE Someone pays for you and me.
God bless you!

Please bring your Pets inside when it is cold.
No one should chain there dogs up 24 hours a day that is no life for a kind loving animal
You will not ever receive love like you will from your Pet remember that it is unconditional love a gift.
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- A woman was arrested after she left her dog outside in 6 degree weather, causing it to freeze to the sidewalk.
A neighbor called police after the dog was stuck to the pavement for more than 12 hours. Jiffy’s owner, a 59-year-old woman, was taken into custody on suspicion of animal neglect.
Jiffy, an 11-year-old border collie, can now crawl but is too heavy to walk. The extra 50 pounds he’s carrying almost cost him his life.
"It is very disturbing to see a dog that overweight and then to actually come up and see the dog frozen to the sidewalk. It was very, very traumatic for me,” said Carey Payne, who is with the Sheboygan Humane Society. “I've never seen a dog actually frozen to a sidewalk before.”
The owner told police she made frequents trips outside to check on the dog, but workers at the Sheboygan County Humane Society suggest the dog was abused long before he was frozen.
"You can overfeed a dog, and when you do the dog becomes extremely overweight, it cannot move properly, it puts a strain on all of their organs,” said Payne. “It's abuse. That’s plain and simple."
Todd Wagner, the neighbor that called police, said the owner tried to free the dog.
“I tried to help (the owner) with it on Wednesday night, but I got bit by it so I left it alone. She had other people coming to help and everybody did make an effort, you know it's not that it was total neglect on her fault,” he said.
Investigators said the owner was released shortly after she was arrested, and it will be up to the district attorney to decide what charges she will face, if any.
Aside from being overweight, the dog is in good health, according to the Humane Society.
The organization said it has received multiple calls from people who are interested in adopting Jiffy

Speak Up for Southwest Wolves!
Target: Ben Tuggle, Southwest Regional Director for the Fish & Wildlife Service

Mexican wolves -- one of the most endangered animals in the world -- play an important role in restoring balance to Southwest forests. But recovery efforts have yet to ensure a lasting future for these animals that play an important role in the culture and wilderness of the Southwest.

Stop Dog Chaining Across the U.S. Once And For All!
Target: U.S. State Representatives Excluding CA, MA and TX
Sponsored by: Care2
It's so hard to believe anyone could do it, but many helpless dogs spend their entire lives in "solitary confinement," trapped at the end of a chain or in a small pen. For a social pack animal, there's no crueler punishment.
Dogs are members of the family, not old bicycles, lawn ornaments or furry alarm systems. And chaining dogs is dangerous. Chained dogs are nearly three times more likely to attack than dogs not tethered, and children are most often the victims of these attacks.
More than 80 cities and two states already restrict chaining because of the suffering it causes, but dogs across the U.S. should be protected from this cruel practice. Tell your local state representative to introduce and/or support ordinances that ban or severely restrict dog-chaining!

Support the PAW Act - End Alaska's Aerial Hunting Program!
Target: U.S. House of Representatives
Sponsored by: Care2.com
Alaska is truly our nation's last frontier. It is also the last place in the U.S. where a few hunters still use aircraft to chase and kill wolves. They shoot these animals from the air or chase them to exhaustion before landing and shooting them point blank.
Congress passed a law thirty five years ago to put an end to aerial hunting. But Alaska is exploiting a loophole in federal law to resume the practice, not only for wolves, but bears as well. Hundreds of scientists have condemned what Alaska is doing, even as other states threaten to follow Alaska's lead. It's time to stop aerial hunting once and for all.
